Shoulding on yourself this Valentine's Day?
Hey love!
It’s Valentine’s Day!! (It’s also “you get a special Take Care: Abundance & Boundaries discount” day, but more on that below!)
✨💗😏 😒💋😭🌷🤮
^ Using this little emoji story here to show a small selection of feelings and associations that might be coming up for you on and around this day.
Valentine’s Day can hold so many complex meanings and that’s why I want to share one of my most important practices with you:
Weeding out all the shoulds and looking for the permission slip you're needing.
Let’s get one thing clear….
You don't need to optimize the moment or make the most of this day.
You can feel giddy with excitement and have it all planned out, down to the pink lace top you’re going to wear with your favorite pearl necklace.
You can ignore everything about it, because it’s a fucked up holiday and feels gross to you.
You can land somewhere in-between.
You can do it one way this year, and another way next year.
You get to be really clear and you get to change your mind.
You get to make today (and any day) about what feels most aligned, true, alive, honest, delicious, and delightful.
Shoulds” are just what others tell us/what culture tells us is good for us. What is “needed” to run our businesses or our lives.
Like brand colors, or hashtags, or whatever the heck is trending.
✨✨bless them😛✨✨
But the secret is…your joy, your pleasure, your aliveness will always give you the most energy, money, and satisfaction.
It may not make sense at first, but disrupting the internalized shoulds and following our aliveness has a way of surprising and delighting us again and again.
To uncover the shoulds and ground back into what you actually want, ask yourself these two questions:
Where am I feeling the pressure of a “should”?
Where is the permission slip I’m needing?
It gets easy to overlook all the shoulds that we soak up from the world around us, the people we interact with, and our cultural norms.
In the face of this, it has been so important for me to create spaces for myself to process and release those shoulds. There is such an emphasis on “taking in” in our culture that we forget to chew, digest, and expel.
Most of us are already buzzing with too much information that hasn’t been integrated into our lives or practices.
In those cases, MORE information simply acts as the proverbial straw that breaks the camel’s back. Or, in Potterhead terms, it’s the pressure that has Neville throwing the wrong ingredient into his cauldron during potions class and causing the entire classroom to flood.
With Take Care, you don’t receive MORE information, noise, and shoulds that clog up your system (or flood your internal space with a messy potion that takes ages to clean out).
It’s designed to help you create space, process and integrate, and expel all the shoulds and narratives that don’t serve you, while helping you tune into the permission you’re needing to trust yourself.
With almost 2 months of journal prompts, Take Care: Abundance & Boundaries takes you on an internal adventure of epic proportions.
Trauma-informed prompts take you through the chakras, and into the realms of boundaries and abundance to help you find your way from your "no" to your "fuck yes!". From scarcity and overwhelm into a felt sense of abundance of all the things that matter.
Because abundance isn’t about how much we can consume. It’s about how much we can integrate.
And because Valentine’s Day is just another excuse for me for to celebrate - even if it’s a fucked up holiday - Take Care: Abundance & Boundaries comes with a special discount: Instead of the usual $111 investment, you can have it for $88 this week!
No matter how you feel about today - a Valentine’s discount is something anyone can get behind, I think 😎 Read more on Take Care and claim your discount here.
